The Constitution of the United States does not "grant" rights; it GUARANTEES rights.  No matter which of our rights Congress, the Supreme Court - and nowadays, the President - choose to deny or abridge, those rights will continue to exist.  Neither does having to fight for "certain unalienable rights" change anything concerning their having been endowed by the creator.  Let's get that straight, once and for all!

I abhor the lie and the liar; more, I have paid a terrible price for my refusal to lie or stand silent in their odious presence. I might have seen that coming, actually. As I have related in my book, "Letters to Aaron, the Hal Luebbert Story," a teacher once exclaimed in frustration that I had "this terrible lust for truth." "They'll hang you someday," Sister Mary Pacifica said, "mankind hates the truth more than anything else there is." The nun was right, and I should have known. Truth and truthfulness have always set me apart. No boast, just fact (strange, isn't it, that the U.S. version of American believes everyone is a liar?). And fair warning: IF THE TRUTH - REALITY - IS OFFENSIVE TO YOU, GO ELSEWHERE!

For an instance of that to which I just referred, the lie of the decade, made even more odious by the meretricious demagoguery it represents, is the lie that says troops in Iraq are fighting for my freedom.  While I agree that men and women who risk life and limb in combat - for any reason - are heroes, and I have long argued that any combat veteran should be given by the nation and people who sent him into harm's way a pension for the rest of his life, I do not agree that U.S. soldiers in Iraq are fighting in order that we might continue to live in freedom. That's cynical, self-serving, dissimulating, tawdry, propagandist falsehood - a lie. Their fighting there has in fact absolutely nothing to do with my freedom (and it singularly pisses me off to hear anyone's vapid, non sequitur argument that it does). That is - on the record known world-wide and undeniably - absurd. And to those who write the maudlin "support our troops" (they really mean "support our - lying - president") exhortations: I HAVE been "in their shoes," and I know that heroes who are maimed and die in combat are not made greater or lesser by the fact that they are fighting for nothing. A soldier - whether political or apolitical in his personal creed - who fought heroically for Nazi Germany was no less a hero than any who fought for the allies. Soldiers are only weapons in the hands of their president, government, and nation, such that their heroism - meaning the fact that they perform and how well they perform has nothing to do with the rightness and wrongness of their use. Screw your head on straight! More, the 303,635 soldiers who were wounded and the 58,209 who died in the Vietnam War accomplished absolutely nothing (they killed, however, 1.1 million North Vietnamese and Viet Cong soldiers - 5.1 million Vietnamese in total). The dead, therefore, died for literally and utterly nothing except the massive profit and aggrandizement otherwise of U.S. military industrial complex corporations and the politicians pandering to them (maybe you can explain why it is that those who have profited enormously by soldiers' sacrifice should not be required to offer them compensation; I'd singularly like to hear that).

The autobiographical account of one man's twenty-three year war with the United States: streetfights, car chases, guns, burglaries, wounds (including bullets), and attempts at poisoning - all by the "nation of laws." The book a U.S. District Court (Colorado) ruled would "irreparably damage the tax collection system of the U.S."  (the F.O.I. suit had nothing to do with taxation, of course, but the U.S. Department of Justice could find no other way to keep members of the federal government free of exposure and out of jail). A searing look at the truth of "civil rights," "equality under the law," and the myths of freedom in the "land of the free," the story would have become a movie but for massive effort by the I.R.S. and the U.S. Government.
